Mountains and Molehills

“You don’t have enough faith Jesus told them. I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” Matthew 17:20 NLT

Have you ever read that scripture and thought how cool it would be to make a mountain uproot from the earth and move? Perhaps that day, Jesus was talking about an actual mountain, or maybe He was very simply giving us instructions on how to deal with the “mountains” in our lives.

Mountains of uncertainty, stress, sickness, depression, financial problems, marriage problems; it can seem like there is no way around them, over them or through them. BUT, if we have the tiniest bit of faith, we can tell the mountains in our minds, our emotions, our bodies, our homes to leave. I love how Jesus ended the scripture “Nothing would be impossible.” Even the impossible situations would have to melt at our small faith.

Recap: With the smallest amount of faith, you can speak to whatever mountain you are facing and watch it become a molehill. Maybe you can’t scale a mountain, but a molehill you can step on, step over and navigate easily.

Challenge: You will face mountains, but before giving into despair pray “Lord, I see the mountain, and I have faith that you can turn it into a molehill and move it out of my way.”
